Closer to halfway
posted by Jeremiah on March 29 2007 from Siloam Springs, AR
Sorry for being out of touch for the last week or so... My travel to Chicago combined with a very busy recording schedule sure takes a lot out of me. I have been able to take a bit of a much needed break the last couple of days, which has been so refreshing. Hannah arrived safely back from her spring break trip on Sunday night (finally!) and I am so thankful to have her back. Makes me realize even more how much I need her and how she is such an integral part of all this. Today she will be going into the studio with me to see what is involved in the whole process, so that is very exciting.

Speaking of which, we now have the guitar tracks done for nearly half of the songs! We will retrack Most Wonderful's guitar and vocals, but other than that, we have quite a few final tracks. Yesterday we began the vocals on Restore, and before we know it, we will be halfway through this project. Finishing will certainly be bittersweet, but I am excited to get this out to all of you. Lendell's understanding of where I want to take this musically is astounding, and we are having such a fun time working on everything.

Thanks for your prayers; we are still shy of our goal, so if you are thinking about sending something in, please do as soon as you can, every little bit helps! But even more, please keep us in your prayers, because that is what we need the most.

Lifeword Studios

Sometimes things get so crazy busy, and you just need a break. This week has been a bit of a (much needed) break, but next week I will be jumping back in to recording. Speaking of recording, we have made some awesome headway in the last few weeks, and not only in the studio. We will be doing all of the drums, electric guitar, and bass at Lifeword Studios in Conway, as they are more equipped to handle the drum tracks in particular, and our players are very near to Conway. Lifeword has been around for quite some time, and recently began building a brand, state of the art studio. We will be their first project in their new location.

Lendell visited a couple days ago, and has reported back with great news. They are just about done with everything, and it is looking incredible. In talking with their audio engineer, Mark, the subject of where we plan on mixing the CD came up. Until this point, our plan has been to do the mixing at Lendell's studio and then sending it out to Nashville to be mastered. Mark offered to do the mixing for us. (And then we will still have it mastered in Nashville) What does this mean? It means the album will sound even better! Lendell is excellent at mixing, but this will let him sit back and really focus more on the production side, and will give us an extra set of ears. Mark has been mixing for more than 15 years, so we are so excited to be working with him.

So at this point we are expecting a late June release. Make sure to keep checking out this site though, as we will be adding some updated recordings. Thanks for all of the support and prayer, God is good!

Deeply saddened

I was deeply saddened to learn today about the shooting at Virginia Tech. It is times like these I cannot comprehend how someone can experience so much pain and be emotionally distraught as to do something of this magnitude. On behalf of all of us here, I want to say we are praying for the families and friends of all involved.

Accordion Rocks!
posted by Jeremiah on April 29 2007 from Siloam Springs, AR
Well hello there everyone! It's been a busy couple of weeks for us over here, but a very fun couple of weeks. We are now over the halfway point of the recording! This means that this coming week will be a bit of a break, but after that point there will be no more breaks. We will work then 'till the 30th of May very heavily, when we will be going down to Lifeword Studios to do percussion, electric guitar, bass, and some other odds and ends.

Friday the 27th was a pretty exciting day, as we brought in a friend of Lendell's: David Ervin to do accordion and melodica for Grant Me Wisdom. Sure is getting me pumped up for the work we will do at Lifeword.

Make sure to come back sometime today, as I will be adding a new song for you to listen to! ***Update*** The new song is now up! Check it out on the left side of the page. It's called "Restore". Thanks for stopping by, you guys rock!

The End Is In Sight!!!
posted by Jeremiah on May 19 2007 from Siloam Springs, AR
This week has been the most intense week of the project yet, and it has been awesome! Tuesday we tracked three guitar tracks. Thursday we did two more guitar tracks and 3 vocal tracks, and yesterday did 6 vocal tracks. This means that we are now FINISHED with the initial busy tracking. Monday and Tuesday this coming week we will be cleaning everything up, choosing which takes sound the best, and then we get to do the fun and creative stuff. Tuesday a friend of mine, Russ, will be doing several backup vocal tracks, and if all goes as planned, we will bring in a cello player as well.

The following week (memorial day week), we head down to Conway to do the drums, bass, and electric guitar.

It blows my mind that the project is near completion. These last few months have been a huge growing time for me emotionally as well as spitirually, and while very difficult, have served to deeply strengthen me as a person and a musician. Broken friendships, financial difficulties, car breakdowns, etc certainly do serve to do that. But I cannot complain, not one bit. God is so good to Hannah and I, and our relationship could not be better!

Please do keep us in prayer these next two weeks. They are the busiest of the project, and we still have more to raise to pay for everything. I will keep ya'll updated on how things go this and next week, you guys rock!

Restore - New Version!
posted by Jeremiah on May 22 2007 from Siloam Springs, AR
Well hello there everyone! Just got back from a 7 hour recording session, and I am bushed! Glad to let you all know that I will shortly be adding a NEW version of Restore. We went back and redid a good portion of the song. Now, keep in mind that we just did a rough mix, as we don't have time to mix twice. (Doing the mixing at Lifeword Studios). But this is certainly closer to the final version.

About the CD, it appears we just will not be able to have all of the backup vocals and extra parts finished in time to mix next week, but we WILL still be recording on Tuesday, one week from today. And we should be able to return in two weeks to do the mixing. This will allow us to make sure we have done everything we can, and not regret leaving out final touches just to have it finished a week earlier.

We are actively working on the album art, and I will be sharing it as soon at is ready as well. Obviously we are juggling a lot at the moment, but it is so exciting! Never been this tired in my life, but it is well worth it. God sure has confirmed our path, and I cannot wait to share the fruits of our labor with you as soon as possible. Thanks for all of your prayers and support; we couldn't do it withoutcha!

I will update this entry when the song is up. ***Edit*** It is now up! Thanks for stopping by, and hope you enjoy it!
